The Asia Pacific Down Syndrome Federation (APDSF) Annual General Meeting (AGM) was successfully held alongside the APDSF Games on 29–30 January 2026, bringing together member nations in a vibrant celebration of collaboration, inclusion, and shared vision.

Representatives from 10 countries across the Asia Pacific region participated in the AGM, reflecting the growing strength and unity of the Federation. The meeting provided a valuable platform for dialogue, review of ongoing initiatives, and strategic planning for the coming year.

Key discussions during the AGM included:

  • Strengthening regional collaboration among member countries
  • Expanding opportunities for self-advocates in leadership and decision-making
  • Enhancing inclusive sports initiatives through the APDSF Games framework
  • Capacity building and knowledge sharing across nations
  • Development of medical and research collaborations within the region

A significant highlight of the discussions was the proposal to convene a Medical Committee Meeting in Japan, subject to confirmation. The aim of this meeting would be to bring together medical professionals from member countries to discuss updated guidelines, best practices, and collaborative research efforts related to Down syndrome. The APDSF Games, held concurrently, showcased the spirit, determination, and talents of athletes with Down syndrome from across the region. The event reinforced the Federation’s commitment to promoting inclusion, health, and empowerment through sports.
